WEB PAGE PROJECT
splash page round 2
interactive version
notes
one This version covers a bunch.
  • The header was brought down to just the tabs and all search functionality embedded into the main content area. However the header area retains the same dimension as the header will be on subsequent pages.
  • The right column is 160 pixels wide so that it can be translated into secondary pages and serve right hand banners.
  • More inviting color palette - just a slight tone shift to existing logo. Much more feminine.
  • Explains actions that can be taken on site (search, read, learn) in header
  • Can use interactive model to embed some editorial content - as we demonstrate at top center.
one B This version leaves the header more "open" giving the viewers eye a place to rest.
one C Adds abstract image behind search to warm up page

editorial notes
one orange area on the left-hand side is designated for navigation. That area could grow on secondary pages if we wanted to add sub-nav unique to those pages.

notes
one we've moved the welcome message up above header to allow the header and page body to have more cohesiveness.
two this versions we've lightened up the palette - which includes lightening up the header as well
three layout moves welcome message into first box that also contain "quick link" style navigation
four this one is pretty straightforward. content in boxes can be switched up.
editorial notes
one we have more text in the main article than you did in your mock. We could feature the first few sentences of 2 different articles in this area if you would prefer. Sign-in is moved from under the header to the upper left of the content area to integrate it into the content more smoothly.
one alternative the same idea with green added to the palette.
two prompts user to pick a state if their state is not cookied yet. If a state is cookied the map graphic would show their state highlighted.
two alternative
three user is forwarded to the select state page if they click on the map area.
